GOOD NEWS

New Dwellings- Araru Point

As we strive to improve the quality of life for our residents on homelands, we have set a goal to install 1-3 new cyclone proof dwellings on homelands each year.

The cyclone proof home is made from a 20ft container, which consists of a large open dining/bedroom with an ensuite connected. Each unit comes with their own hot water unit.

Our first homeland to receive a new dwelling is Araru Point which won the outstation of the year for 2020. As more residents are returning to their country, additional dwellings are in high demand on all homelands.

The dwelling was transported and secured in the dry of 2020; services will be connected once access roads open in the dry of 2021. Demed has fully self-funded the purchase and installation of these dwellings as there is no available grant for this project.  If you wish to help with this endeavor, please contact info@demed.com.au for more information.
